The Maelstrom is a Stage 8 seasonal fishing rod with exceptional stats: 80% Lure Speed, 85% Luck, 0.15 Control (+15%, resulting in a bar 45% of the reeling minigame), 35% Resilience, and infinite Max Kg. With a Line Distance of 13m, it excels at close-range fishing in the Cryoshock Cellar.
Its passive ability features a unique Charge Meter mechanic:
- 30% chance for Frostbitten mutation (9x value multiplier)
- -10% Progress Speed (baseline penalty)
- A visible Charge Meter appears above the fishing bar during catches
- Holding input builds charge at a random rate; releasing above 80% charge while the fish is in the bar grants +15% progress and a 25% chance to freeze fish movement for 2-4 seconds
The freeze effect is powerful for difficult catches, though it replaces any active enchantment freeze effects. Mastering the charge timing is key to maximizing this rod's potential.
How to Obtain
The Maelstrom is obtained from the Cryoshock Cellar during the Fischmas 2 seasonal event.
Requirements:
- Successfully catch the Cryoshock Serpent boss in Cryoshock Cellar
- Complete the parkour at the end
- Purchase the rod for 3,250,000 C$
This rod is only available during the Fischmas (2025) event and cannot be obtained outside of this limited-time period.
Tips
- Lure Speed of 80% means you'll need to shake to attract fish.
- Max Kg of null limits what fish you can catch.
- This rod has a special ability that can significantly boost your earnings!
- The Control stat affects the size of your reeling bar. Higher control = easier catches!
