The Fungal Rod is an early-game rod with modest stats suited for introductory fishing. It has low Lure Speed and Luck, along with no Control, making catches less stable compared to later rods. Its Resilience is also limited, and its Weight cap restricts it to lighter fish.

Its passive abilities provide most of its value. After each catch, there is a 70% chance to grant 45 seconds of +50% Luck, offering a noticeable boost over time. It also has a 30% chance to apply the Fungal mutation, increasing a fish's value by 4x.

Overall, the Fungal Rod serves as a straightforward early-game option that becomes more effective when its passive Luck buff activates, giving new players a consistent way to increase their catch value.
